Entebbe is a major town in Central Uganda. On a Lake Victoria peninsula, approximately 37 kilometres (23 mi) southwest of the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Entebbe is the location of Entebbe International Airport, Uganda’s largest commercial and military airport. Entebbe is also the location of State House, the official office and residence of the President of Uganda.
Entebbe happens to be filled with many of attractions and activities you won’t want to miss. All Entebbe Tourist Attractions are minutes away from the Entebbe International Airport, all wonderful hotels, restaurants and beaches for your pleasure.
Entebbe Botanical Gardens
Laid out in 1898, these expansive gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll. They offer a superb introduction to Ugandan birds and are situated conveniently close to the capital and international airport. The highlights are its pockets of thick rain forest, which locals claim some of the original Tarzan films were made in, and excellent bird-watching with 115 species (Ush 10,000 per guide). You’ll see plenty of monkeys, including black and white colobus, and tree squirrels too.
Uganda Wildlife Education Center – most call it the zoo is a great place to relax and walk around – located along Lake Victoria – you can take an afternoon mini-safari here and enjoy the vegetation, plants and trees found in Uganda at the same time. You can even schedule a morning personal encounter with the chimpanzees.
Founded by Jane Goodall in 1998 this island is a refuge for over 45 rescued chimpanzees. Ngamba Chimpanzee Island (chimpanzee orphanage) has become a popular add-on to some of our Safari clients – you can stay overnight here and enjoy the Island and chimpanzees and have an interactive experience with the chimpanzees and watch them during feeding times. For quicker transport – you can now choose to fly to the island.
Mabamba Swamp – a short trip from Entebbe is Mabamba Swamp, one of the best places in Uganda to see the Shoebill Stork and other water birds.
Uganda Reptile Village
Uganda Reptile Village is located on Kampala-Entebbe Highway at Abaita Ababiri. It is on one hectare of land just 4 km off the Entebbe-Kampala Highway. Uganda Reptiles Village it is a place for endangered reptiles,our work is to rescue reptiles from danger and to educate the community how to live with reptiles safely. They are over 20 reptile species on display and over 50 reptiles in total.
Entebbe has a variety of restaurants to choose from – some like Goretti’s Pizzeria, Bar and Grill are located right on Lake Victoria – after you order have patience – enjoy a drink and the food is coming.
